Tottenham have been dealt a hug blow ahead of their trip to Old Traford tomorrrow against Manchester United this weekend, with their star striker Harry Kane set to miss the mouth watering encounter due to hamstring injury
Kane has been battling with the injury sustained in last weekend’s win over Liverpool where he scored twice as Spurs won 4-1, before being substituted in the 88th minute causing him to miss out in the shock defeat against West Ham in the Caraboa cup at Wembley on Wednesday, and will go further to disrupt Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for this weekend’s crucial clash.
The news which was revealed earlier on Monday is a major setback for the north London club in their preparations to move above United into second place as both teams are leveled on point but separated by goal difference.
They revealed he underwent assessment and investigation earlier this week, which confirmed a minor strain to the left hamstring.
For tomorrow, we cannot take a risk,’ the Argentine said about Kane’s fitness.
“There is no sense in taking that risk and making the problem bigger.”
‘It’s a minor injury, very small, but we cannot take a risk. We’ll see after for Wednesday versus Real Madrid. Tomorrow [Saturday] it’s impossible.
‘It makes no sense to take a risk when the problem is small and we can fix in a few days probably.’
‘Yes [it is a blow], you always want all the players available. It’s a problem. To play more or play less, we want them available to play. We always believe in the collective, the squad. During the season, problems happen and you must trust all the players, all the squad. Mauricio Pochettino said
Kane is the leading Premier League scorer this season with eight goals in nine games.
The 24-year-old has scored 13 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season
