Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been reportedly injured in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
Reports in Argentina suggested the 29-year old Argentine attended a show featuring Colombian singer Maluma before the taxi he was riding in reportedly crashed into a pole en route to the airport on his way back to Manchester. Manchester City later confirmed there striker has suffered a broken rib in the accident.
Daily mail reports that the striker is thought to have escaped more serious injuries because he was wearing his seat-belt during the incident, which is said to have happened while he was making his way back to the airport, but is thought to have received hospital treatment as a result.
Amidst predictions in Argentina that Aguero could be out for close to two months due to broken ribs sustained from the incidence involving the Chrysler PT Cruiser he was being driven in, he is expected back in Manchester on Friday and will be examined by City’s medical team before the Premier League trip to Stamford bridge on Saturday to face the reigning champions Chelsea
Aguero has been in an amazing form this season scoring seven goals in eight matches for city. He scored a hat-trick in city’s 6-0 victory at Watford a fortnight ago and followed that up with registering his name in another goal last Saturday during City’s 5-0 victory against the unstable Crystal Palace, but missed from the spot kick on Tuesday night during his side’s 2-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Manchester City as thus far moved to the top of the premiere league table and Aguero is just a goal shy of Eric Brook’s all-time scoring record for City.
The international break comes next after City’s match against Chelsea on Saturday and Aguero has been named in Argentina’s squad for their final two World Cup qualifiers against Peru on the 5th of October and against Ecuador on the 10th of October.
