Arsene Wenger has rules out Alexis Sanches and Mesut Ozil leaving the emirate in January

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said the duo of Alexis Sanches and Mesut Ozil will not be leaving the Emirate in January but will rather see out their contract till the end of the season except something unbelievable happens.

The contracts of both players expire at the end of the season and it is evident the gunners will be losing two greats in one summer looking at the fact that both Sanchez, 28, and 29-year-old Ozil are key figures for Wenger, except they are convinced to sign a new contract and remain at the club for further seasons.

The Gunners manager has ‘ruled out’ any chance of the Chilean and German forwards departing the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window and made that decision at the beginning of the season.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s home match with Huddersfield Town on Wednesday, Wenger said: ‘I rule it out. I do not think every day about that but as long as they are here they have to give their best for the team and the club.

“In my head, they stay until the end of the season. Unless something unbelievable happens I don’t see that changing.”

“You always confront me with many speculations and state of the transfers but, for me, they stay until the end of the season.

“Will they stay longer? That is impossible to answer today.”

This means Arsenal won’t be receiving a dime for neither player when their contract will be fully expired and they are free to make any decision that suits them.

Arsenal currently sits fourth in the Premier League table following successive victories against Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley, with Sanchez scoring in both games and getting the late winner against Burnley. Ozil missed the match at Turf Moor due to illness and it has been confirmed he will also be missing the game against Huddersfield on Wednesday after failing a fitness test for the game earlier on Tuesday.
