Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi scored twice as the Super Eagles comfortably overcame the challenge of Argentina in a friendly on Tuesday.

It was the second time the Eagles would beat their more illustrious opponents, the last coming also with four goals in favor of the Super Eagles

The Nigerians fell behind to a two-goal lead against a start studded Argentina that has the likes of Angel di Maria, Nicolas Otamendi, Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano, Paulo Dybala and the likes but their main man Lionel Messi was absent.

Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega got the first goal of the game at the 28th minutes from a set piece won after Chippa United keeper goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi committed an error, inexplicably handling the ball outside his box, when he should have made a clearance.

The South Americans doubled their lead with Sergio Aguero getting his 36th international goal after converting Cristian Pavon’s cross past Akpeyi through the outstretched legs of Williams Troost-Eking and Ola Aina. The goal also makes the Manchester City striker the third-highest scorer in Argentina history after surpassing Hernan Crespo with only Lionel Messi (61) and Gabriel Batistuta (54) ahead of him.

Brian Idowu scored two minutes later to put Nigeria into the lead and Iwobi got his second goal of the game by sealing the win at the 73rd minute.

There was concern Aguero when he collapsed during Argentina’s defeat by Nigeria in Russia on Tuesday.

Aguero is said to have fainted at half time before he was replaced by substitute Dario Benedetto.
